Prosthetics helps rebuild teeth that can no longer be repaired with an ordinary filling, and replace missing teeth. A crown can protect a badly damaged tooth, while a bridge or an implant fills the space left by a tooth that is no longer there.

There is no single solution for every case. First we check how much of the tooth is left, what condition the other teeth are in and which solution will be best for you.

Zdecydowanie polecam!

What patients write (in Polish)

Do dr.

Ogromna wiedza i doświadczenie. Serdecznie polecam!

PROSTHETICS

When is prosthetics needed?

Not every damaged tooth needs a crown, and not every missing tooth has to be replaced the same way. That is why we start by assessing the situation.

We look at how much of your own tooth is left, what your bite is like, what condition the neighbouring teeth are in and what we want to achieve.

The tooth is badly damaged

If too little of the tooth is left to rebuild it with an ordinary filling, we can make a crown.

A crown rebuilds the shape of the tooth and protects it from further damage.

Not every badly damaged tooth needs a crown, though. Sometimes a larger filling is enough, and sometimes the tooth first has to be rebuilt with a glass-fibre post.

The tooth has had root canal treatment

Root canal treatment does not automatically mean you need a crown.

First we check how much of your own tooth is left. If there is enough of it, we can rebuild it with composite. If the tooth needs extra reinforcement, we can rebuild it with a glass-fibre post.

If the tooth is badly weakened, a crown may be the best way to protect it.

One tooth is missing

A missing tooth can be replaced with a bridge or with an implant and a crown.

A bridge rests on the teeth next to the gap. An implant replaces the root of the missing tooth and lets us place a crown on it.

If the teeth next to the gap are healthy, an implant lets us leave them unprepared. If, however, they are already badly damaged and need crowns themselves, a bridge can be a very good solution.

Several teeth are missing

With a larger gap we can also consider a bridge, implants or a combination of solutions.

We do not choose a solution only by the number of missing teeth. The condition of the remaining teeth and of the mouth matters too.

CROWN

A crown on your own tooth

A crown is a way to rebuild a badly damaged tooth that can no longer be properly repaired with an ordinary filling.

For the crown to fit properly and look like a natural tooth, the tooth has to be prepared first. This means reducing it slightly in the places where we need room for the crown.

We always decide the extent of preparation individually and try to keep as much of your own tooth as possible.

Then we scan the tooth, and the laboratory makes the crown from the scan.

Before fitting it we check the shape, colour, fit and bite. We want the crown not only to look good but also to work well when you bite.

A crown on your own tooth (porcelain or zirconia) – from 3 500 zł.

If the tooth first needs root canal treatment or a restoration with a glass-fibre post, those stages are paid separately. We tell you about them and their cost before treatment starts.

BRIDGE

A bridge on your own teeth

A bridge lets us replace a missing tooth without placing an implant.

For this we use the teeth on both sides of the gap. The whole work rests on them.

When is a bridge a good solution?

A bridge makes particular sense when the teeth next to the gap need rebuilding anyway – for example they are badly damaged, have large fillings or have had root canal treatment.

To make a bridge, these teeth have to be prepared, that is reduced so that there is room for the future work.

If the teeth next to the gap are healthy, an implant is also worth considering. With it they do not have to be prepared.

How much does a bridge cost?

We price a bridge per tooth included in the whole work.

If one tooth is missing, we need two teeth for the bridge to rest on and one tooth that fills the gap.

That makes 3 units in total.

  • 1 unit – 3 500 zł
  • A bridge replacing one tooth – 10 500 zł

We settle the exact scope of work after checking the teeth the bridge will rest on.

PRICES

How much does prosthetics cost?

The price of a crown or a bridge is not always the whole cost of treatment.

If the tooth needs root canal treatment or extra reinforcement before the crown, those stages have to be included too.

That is why, before treatment starts, we present the whole plan and the expected cost, not just the price of the crown itself.

THE PROCESS

Step by step from check-up to crown

The number of visits depends on whether the tooth needs earlier treatment and on the type of prosthetic work being done. We agree the detailed course of treatment individually and present it in the treatment plan before any procedures begin.

01

Examination and X-rays

We check your teeth and gums. If needed, we take an X-ray. We also talk about what you want to change and what result you want to achieve.

02

Treatment plan

We present the possible solutions, the next stages and the expected cost. If the problem can be solved in several ways, we show you the differences so you can make an informed decision.

03

Preparing the tooth

conditional step

If the tooth needs root canal treatment or a restoration with a glass-fibre post, we do those stages before the crown.

04

Preparation and scan

We prepare the tooth for the crown, or the neighbouring teeth for the bridge. Then we scan the teeth, and the scan goes to the dental laboratory. Until the finished work is fitted, we always place a temporary one – you never leave the practice with prepared teeth without it.

05

Try-in and cementing

Before we fit the crown or bridge permanently, we check the colour, shape, fit and bite. If everything is right, we cement the work permanently.

06

Check-up

At the next check-up we see how the work is functioning and whether everything is in order.

HYGIENE

How to look after a crown and a bridge?

Crowns and bridges do not decay like a natural tooth, but the tooth under the crown and the gums around the work still need daily hygiene.

Daily hygiene

You clean a crown just like your other teeth – with a toothbrush and interdental cleaning aids.

With a bridge you also need to clean the space under the part that replaces the missing tooth. You can use special floss or a water flosser for this.

Check-ups and hygiene visits

At check-ups we examine the crown or bridge, the teeth under the work, the gums and the bite.

Regular professional cleaning helps remove tartar and deposits from places that are hard to reach when brushing every day.

What to do if a crown or bridge comes loose?

Do not glue it back yourself.

Keep the work and contact us. We will check why it came loose and whether it can be refitted.

Repairs after treatment

On crowns and bridges we give 2 years of repair cover. If the work chips or cracks within that time, we repair it free of charge, provided the advice on hygiene and on protecting the teeth has been followed.

WHICH TO CHOOSE?

A crown, a bridge or an implant?

Each of these solutions has its place.

Crown

We choose it when your own tooth is badly damaged but can still be kept.

Bridge

We choose it when one or more teeth are missing and we can rest the work on the teeth next to the gap.

Implant with a crown

An implant lets us replace a missing tooth without preparing the healthy teeth next to the gap.

If the neighbouring teeth are healthy, an implant can be a very good solution. If, however, they are badly damaged and need crowns anyway, a bridge may make more sense.

The crown on the implant is made by Aneta Buczko, DDS.

At the consultation we go through the options and help you choose the solution that suits your situation.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions

How much does a crown cost?

A crown on your own tooth – porcelain or zirconia – costs from 3 500 zł. If the tooth first needs root canal treatment or a restoration with a glass-fibre post, those stages are paid separately. Before treatment starts we present the whole plan and the expected cost.

Does every tooth after root canal treatment need a crown?

No. It all depends on how much of your own tooth is left. Sometimes a filling is enough, sometimes a restoration with a glass-fibre post is needed, and for a badly damaged tooth a crown may be the best solution.

Does preparing a tooth for a crown hurt?

We prepare the tooth under local anaesthetic, so the procedure should not be painful. The anaesthetic is included in the price.

How many visits does a crown or bridge take?

Usually 2–3 visits over about 2–3 weeks. At the first visit we examine the teeth and prepare a treatment plan – if the tooth first needs root canal treatment, we do it before the crown. At the second we prepare the tooth or teeth and take a scan, from which the laboratory makes the work. At the third we check the fit, colour and bite, and then cement the crown or bridge permanently. Once the teeth are prepared we always place a temporary restoration – you never leave the practice with prepared teeth without it.

How much does a bridge cost?

One bridge unit costs 3 500 zł. If one tooth is missing, the bridge usually has 3 units – the two teeth it rests on and one tooth filling the gap. Such a bridge costs 10 500 zł.

Is a bridge better than an implant?

There is no single solution for everyone. If the teeth next to the gap are healthy, an implant may be the better solution, because they do not have to be prepared. If, however, the neighbouring teeth are already damaged and need crowns, a bridge can be a very good solution.

Do the teeth have to be prepared for a bridge?

Yes. We prepare the teeth on both sides of the gap so that they can hold the bridge. That is why, before making a bridge, we check whether the abutment teeth are suitable for this kind of work.

How long does a crown or bridge last?

There is no single number of years that fits every patient. Hygiene, the way you bite, the condition of the teeth and gums and regular check-ups all matter a great deal. Well-made and properly cared-for work can last for many years.

What should I do if a crown falls out?

Do not glue it back yourself. Keep the crown and contact us. We will check the tooth and assess whether the crown can be refitted.

Do you make crowns and bridges on the NFZ?

No. allsmiles is a private practice and prosthetic treatment is paid.
